Tension grips wedding venue in Cuttack as woman protests second marriage of husband

Cuttack: Tension prevailed at a marriage mandap located in Paga market area under Jagatpur police limits in Cuttack district last night after a woman protested the remarriage of her husband over his ‘undivorced’ status.

As per the report, the accused man identified as Bikram Sahu of Bhatimunda area under the same police limits had married one Supriya Panda of Nuasahi village in 2010 but a dispute occurred between the couple a few months back. The couple started living separately later.

As per the allegation of Supriya, her husband fixed her marriage with another woman without taking divorce from her and held the wedding at Golden Memories mandap at Paga market last evening without her knowledge. She arrived at the spot after getting information and made a failed attempt to stop the marriage.

“My husband was getting married to another woman without taking divorce from me. I reported the matter to Jagatpur and Paga Police but they refused to act against him as he was showing a legal document in support of our divorce which is false,” said the woman.

On the other hand, the accused has claimed that the legal paper produced by him to the police is authentic and he welcomes any legal action taken by his ex-wife.
