Kendrapara: Tension prevailed at Pattamundai College in Kendrapara district on Tuesday after hundreds of students locked up its main gate protesting the unhindered entry of outsiders into the campus.

Hundreds of students including both boys and girls resorted to burning tyres before the college gate starting from the morning and prevented classes from being held. They also resorted to sloganeering against the prevailing hooliganism inside the campus and the college authorities failure to tackle it.

Student unrest resulted in the campus in the aftermath of the entry of a group of non-students into the college yesterday. The intruders reportedly threatened the students with gun before fleeing away.

While a case in this connection has been lodged at the Pattamundai Police Station, no arrests have been made so far.

Students are demanding immediate action on the accused and have warned to continue the stir till they are nabbed.
