The deceased has been identified as Gobardhan Bindhani, a resident of Panjaraguda village near Dabugaon.

Sources said that police have conducted raid at Khutiguda weekly market on Saturday following information regarding illegal cockfight betting. Locals alleged that two Bindhani along with Kamulu Harijan (45) were critically injured in police assault during the raid.

Locals also alleged that police admitted Kamulu to the District headquarters Hospital this morning while the whereabouts of Gobardhan was unclear.

Police said that Bindhani complained of uneasiness at the police station for which he was rushed to the nearest hospital. “Doctors later referred him to the District Headquarters Hospital. We informed his family members who accompanied him to the hospital. He was again referred to Vishakhapatnam and was declared received dead upon reaching there,” police claimed.
