Tension Erupts At Nalco Damanjodi, Sec 144 Imposed

Jeypore: Tension gripped in Nalco, Damanjodi following a clash between the agitators and the police in Odisha’s Jeypore district on Saturday. More than 40 persons were arrested following the clash.

The agitators who are the second generation of land displaced families, are demanding jobs in Nalco in lieu of land acquired by the PSU.

Prohibitory order under section 144 of CrPC has been clamped from Aanlabadi colony to Nalco mines. The agitators and cops pelted stones at each other following which a policeman was injured and 2 vehicles of the police and magistrate were vandalised. More 40 persons were arrested by the police

The displaced protestors have blocked the road to Damanjodi since Wednesday affecting transportation of bauxite from Nalco mines to its plant.

Police force has been deployed at the spot. Koraput SP, Sunabeda SDPO  and Koraput Sub- district magistrate are also present at the site.
