Tension at Puri DHH after doctor slaps minor boy in OT
Puri: Tension ran high at Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) yesterday after a doctor slapped a minor boy inside Operation Theatre (OT) and his family members created ruckus on its premise protesting the incident.
As per the report, one Jayaram Mansingh (10) of Markandeswar Sahi of Puri town had been admitted to the DHH last evening for surgery after being diagnosed with pyomyositis. However, ahead of the surgery, the boy started crying out of nervousness which the doctor on duty PK Jena objected. However, as the boy didn’t stopped despite repeated appeal the doctor in a bid to silence him resorted to slapping.
As the news reached to the family of the sick minor, they immediately stage a protest on the hospital premise demanding action against Jena. They were later joined by some locals and claimed that the accused doctor also demanded a bribe of Rs 900 from them to carry out the surgery.
Later, The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) swung into action and formed a committee to probe into the matter.
Kumbharpada Police also reached the spot and tried to pacify the mob.
On the other hand, the doctor in news has rubbished all allegations made against him.
