Tension At Gurudwara In Bhubaneswar Following Death Of Youth

Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old man was today found hanging on the premises of Gurudwara Singh Sabha under Kharvel Nagar police limits.

While the police claimed that the deceased Subash Nayak committed suicide, his family members alleged that he was first killed and then hanged.

The body of Nayak hanging from the ceiling of a room was first spotted by a security guard. The security guard immediately informed the matter to the police.

Police said that Nayak, a resident of a slum behind the Kharvel Nagar police station was working as an attendant in the Gurudwara for past six months.

Police claimed that a suicide note written in Hindi was found from Nayak’s possession. However, his family members raised doubt on the claim saying that Nayak cannot even write in Odia.

“There were visible injury marks on the body. We strongly suspect that he was killed and later hanged to give the incident suicide angle. Police is also trying hush up the matter,” said a relative of the deceased.

Irate locals later ransacked the Gurudwara and blocked the Janpath, demanding arrest of the culprit. Adequate police personnel have been deployed at the spot to prevent any untoward incident.
