Nayagarh: Tension ran high in Basantpur village under Daspalla Police Station area today morning after a priest was found dead in the foothills of Rugudipashi, after remaining missing for at least two days.
The deceased has been identified as Upendra Nayak of Basantpur village. He was serving as a priest in a village temple.
Basant had not returned home after leaving home for some work on Saturday. He was found dead near Rugudipashi area by some locals in the morning. Body of the deceased was found hidden under the bushes with multiple injury marks.
After Daspalla Police reached the spot and carried out preliminary investigation, it suspected it to be a case of murder over past enmity. Police have seized the body and registered a case as per the complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased.
