Kendrapara: BJD leader and President of Odisha Khadi & Garam Udyog, Tejeswar Parida came to the rescue of a Class 8 student of Korua Bazar area in Garadpur block in Patkura in Kendrapara district, who was about to quit studies and start working as a child labourer, on Wednesday..
When he came to know that 13-year-old Akash Mallick had given a miss to the school to work as a casual labour in the market, he immediately got in touch with the school authorities as well as DEO and local youth, who persuaded Akash to go back to school. The DEO instructed the UGME School Headmaster to take special care of the child.
Tejeswar later held discussions with key people in the village as well as cops to ensure no child is used as labour and exploited further. He also asked the authorities to find ways to engage elder people in the families in work so that they are not forced to send their children to work and earn.
