Nayagarh: In a morning mishap a tehsildar was killed after the car he was travelling in was hit by a speeding truck near Sorada under Nuagaon police limits in Nayagarh district today.
The deceased official has been identified as Suresh Kumar Nanda, tehsildar of Komna in Nuapada district.
Nanda, who had been appointed as the Additional Returning Officer for Nuapada district for the upcoming general election, was en-route to Bhubaneswar on official duty when the mishap took place.
Driver of a speeding truck lost control over the wheels and drove extremely left on the road to dash against Nanda’s SUV which got completely mangled in the crash.
While Panda died on the spot, his driver was rushed to a nearby hospital with the help of some locals and Nuagaon Police.
The mangled SUV was seized by police after they send the deceased for autopsy.
