Teacher missing case Odisha: Accused Govinda Sahu declared most wanted

Balangir: In a recent development to the mystery of missing teacher Mamita Meher, Balangir police has declared the accused Govinda Sahu as most wanted. An announcement of reward Rs 1 lakh has also been done in his name. Govinda’s photo has been released as a poster by the police showing that he has been declared as most wanted in this matter and has been circulated.

In the poster, two contact numbers (8280072586, 06652-234021)  have been mentioned in case of any information regarding Govinda’s location.

A half burnt body has been found after digging up ground for an hour at the under construction mini stadium in Mahalinga. It is being suspected that the buried body is of the missing lady teacher Mamita Meher. Her family has been asked to arrive at the scene to identify the body. A gold chain and a bag has also been found with the body.

The body will be sent for DNA test, informed Balangir police.

The mini under construction stadium in Mahalinga was sealed and one platoon police force was deployed at the spot. On Monday night, the cops questioned the operator of JCB that was parked at the stadium. Based on the operator’s report of statement, it was believed that Mamita has been killed and buried at the under construction mini stadium.

Thereafter, a JCB was brought to the spot to dig up the ground this morning. Golamunda Additional Tehsildar is in charge of the scientific team and magistrate, while Additional SP of Balangir, Kantabanji SDPO, IIC of Sindhekela police station, IIC of Kegaon police station and two platoon police force are in charge of the suspected crime scene, added reports.

On the other hand, a special team has been formed to nab the owner of Sunshine English Medium School Govinda Sahu who has escaped from Titlagarh barrack despite strict security. He was kept under supervision of two constables and a senior police officer. The three police officers have also been suspended by the Titlagarh SP for dereliction of duty.

His Wagon R car, bearing registration number OD 08 K 1002, has also been seized by the cops.

It is pertinent to mention that Mamita’s family members have alleged that Sahu was sexually harassing women employees of the school and forcing them to have physical relation with him. She was asked by Govinda to reach Sunshine Public School for a meeting following she went missing. Her family lodged a complaint with the police against Govinda and he was detained by the police for questioning.
