Teacher arrested for rape attempt to minor girl student in Odisha’s Balangir district

A case has been registered in this connection under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act

Patnagarh: A teacher has been arrested for making rape attempt to a minor girl student in Balangir district of Odisha. The incident took place in Patnagarh area of the district.

The accused teacher has been identified as Satya Naik, a teacher of Jogimunda High School.

As per reports, the said teacher on March 28 asked a girl student of Class X to go to his house along with him. However, while they should return Patnagarh, he took her on the Padampur road and attempted to make physical relation at a lonely place.

The minor girl student opposed him and cried loudly for which he left her. He then intimidated her saying that if she reveals it to anybody, he would kill her.

On the following day the girl student denied to go to the school to attend class. Despite her parents’ best effort when she denied, her mother asked if there is any problem for which she does not want to go to school. Now, she revealed everything to her mother.

Later, the victim’s family lodged an FIR against the teacher at Patnagarh Police Station. On the basis of the FIR Police probed and took action. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act and arrested the accused teacher from his house.

Today, following the medical test of the accused and the victim the accused teacher was forwarded to the POCSO Court in Balangir. Later he was sent to judicial custody. Further investigation of the case is underway.
