Angul: Odisha Vigilance conducted a raid on properties associated with the Junior Engineer of Talcher block in Angul district on Monday morning on the allegation of accumulation of disproportionate assets.
The Junior Engineer of Talcher block has been identified as Biranchi Narayan Sahoo. He joined as a contractual Junior Engineer in September 2010 and till December 2015 he continued on a Contractual basis on a consolidated remuneration of Rs 12,500 per month and was then regularized. His approximate total income during the service period is Rs 39,00,000.
Reportedly, the vigilance sleuths conducted a raid at four places including his residential house located at Kumuda under Sadar police limits in Angul, the residential house located at Ambal under under Sadar police limits in Angul, relative’s residence located at Meramundali in Dhenkanal district and his office chamber in office BDO, Talcher, on the strength of search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul.
Simultaneous house searches are being conducted by 4 teams of Odisha Vigilance team led by four DSPs, eight Inspectors and other staff.
As many as 10 Fixed Deposit accounts in various banks with deposits worth Rs 46,24,500. The balance in savings accounts is approximately Rs 50,65,693 (Total deposits = Rs 96,90, 193). Besides, Insurance Premiums worth Rs 12,56,515/- have been paid.
Till the last reports came in, 1 double storeyed and 1 single storeyed building, 1 Hyundai I10 Car, 5 two wheelers, 261 gm gold ornaments have been unearthed. Further investigation regarding the vigilance raid is underway.
