Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths raided the government quarters of tainted senior IAS officer and former Managing Director of Odisha Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC) Vinod Kumar at VIP Colony in Nayapalli area here for the second consecutive day on Thursday to arrest him. However, the Odisha cadre bureaucrat still continued to be untraceable.

Acting on the non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the city-based Special (Vigilance) Court, which convicted Vinod Kumar along with five others in the ORHDC scam, a five-member team of the Vigilance officials led by DSP Nirmal Mohanty carried out the raid.

Officials of the anti-corruption agency had also raided the same location to arrest him yesterday. However, they returned empty handed as the bureaucrat was not available.

On July 3, Kumar and five others were convicted by the court in connection with financial irregularities in the ORHDC to the tune of Rs 55 lakh.

The five others who were convicted by the court are Sanjay Mohanty, Purna Chandra Das, Pradip Kumar Rout, Chitta Ranjan Mohanty and Ashish Kumar Nayak.

Vinod Kumar was the Director of ORHDC when the scam took place in 2000. He is currently serving as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
