Summer Vacation: Odisha Govt sends show-Cause Notice To KV-1

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to the authorities of the Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 here in Odisha for violating its order on extension of summer vacation till June 25.

The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued the notice as the school has been holding classes that forced children to travel in severe hot and humid conditions.

In a letter, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi has asked the School Principal to explain as to why action under Section51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 should not be initiated against him for violating the Government order.

The Principal has also been asked to submit an explanation within three days failing which the government would take appropriate action against the school authorities.

Notably, the State Government had extended summer vacations of all schools initially up to June 21 and subsequently up to June 25 keeping in view of intense heat wave situation in the state.
