Sumitra Jena appointed as Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress President

Bhubaneswar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday appointed Sumitra Jena as the new president of the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress with immediate effect, according to a release issued by AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot.

Jena will replace Sasmita Behera who was holding the post till the announcement came in.

Gandhi also appointed former Jagatsinghpur MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai as the chairperson of the Scheduled Caste (SC) Cell of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) replacing Krushna Chandra Sagaria.

However, Sagaria, a sitting MLA from Koraput, has been appointed as general secretary of OPCC.

Besides, senior Congress leader Jagannath Patnaik has been appointed as the member of the OPCC Executive Committee, the release said.
