Submit affidavit on ‘Rainwater Flow’ in Mahanadi in 2 weeks, Mahanadi Tribunal tells Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal which has been constituted to adjudicate the longstanding dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh today directed both the states to submit affidavits regarding details of rainwater flow in last 20 years, within two weeks.

However, the Odisha Government was told to submit its affidavit first as it had put forth its stand on Chhattisgarh’s stoppage of water upstream Mahanadi by setting up a number of barrages on the upstream of Mahanadi without the required permission as well as by keeping Odisha in dark.

Chhattisgarh will submit its counter affidavit once Odisha completes its task, informed sources.

The next date of hearing in the case has been posted on February 9, 2019.
