Students’ union elections cancelled in Odisha due to Cyclone Titli

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to avoid any untoward incident due to Cyclone Titli which is likely to hit the state tomorrow early morning, Odisha government has cancelled the Students’ union elections in the state.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, after attending a high level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, at State Secretariat today, said that all schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres will remain closed in the state on October 11 and 12 as a precaution against Cyclone Titli. Besides, the students’ union election has been cancelled across the state.

As per the notification issued by the Higher Education Department, voting for the Students’ Union elections was slated to be held on October 11 from 8 am to 2 pm. While counting of votes was supposed to take place in the afternoon, results would have been declared by the evening.
