Students’ Union election cancelled in Ravenshaw & Sambalpur Universities

Cuttack: The students’ union election has been cancelled in Ravenshaw and Sambalpur Universities (Jyoti Vihar) today.

The authorities of Ravenshaw University cancelled the students’ election and issued a notification in this regard this evening.

“In persuance of the proceedings of joint meeting of Deans, HoDs, Coordinators and members of Students’ Union Election Monitoring Committee and Protorial Board and the recommendations thereof, the Students Union Election 2018 of Ravenshaw University stands cancelled in line with Para 1 of the Guidelines for the Student Union Election 2019-19,” said the notification.

Likewise, the students’ union election of Sambalpur University was also cancelled. The decision not to hold election this year in the University came during a Syndicate meeting.

The Syndicate members said that the election has been cancelled due to unrest in the campus of the University.

Earlier there was a group clash between the students and even staff of the University had fought each other over some reasons.

The students’ union elections were cancelled at the Utkal University-Bhubaneswar earlier.
