Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a student of Utkal University committed suicide in the hostel of the institution here this evening.
According to reports, one Divash Behera, a native of Dashapalla of Nayagarh district, ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of Room No-125 of Madhusudan Chhattravash of the premium institution of Odisha.
Behera was a second-year student of Public Administration Course of the varsity.
The exact cause which prompted the student to take the extreme step is yet to be known.
Sahid Nagar Police rushed to the spot after getting information and started an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, tension ran high on the premises of the University as students demanded a probe into the matter and arrest the accused, if any.
