Street Crimes Reduce In January Than December: Bhubaneswar DCP

Bhubaneswar: The number of street crimes has reduced in the capital city in January month as compared to December, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Dash.

He added that there is a specific gang operating behind all the street crime in Bhubaneswar.

Reportedly, there are 68 panchayats under Bhubaneswar Urban Police District. Patrolling and other safety measures are being in view of the upcoming elections.

It is to be noted that earlier on Monday there were reports of four loot cases in Bhubaneswar including a street crime.

The street crime took place near Infocity police station in the Patia area of Bhubaneswar where two miscreants were caught red-handed while snatching a mobile phone from a woman and trying to escape from the spot.

The woman screamed loudly for help after her phone was snatched following which two youths of the area chased the looters and caught them from the Sailashree Vihar area.

The locals thrashed the robbers in the middle of the road and recovered the mobile phone. On getting the information, Infocity police arrived at the spot and seized their bike. The locals handed over the looters to the cops. The police have interrogated the two looters to ascertain about similar incidents of loot and who all are involved in such street crimes.

Adding to it, the Commisionerate police had issued a WhatsApp number 7077798111 for the people of Bhubaneswar in order to report street crimes including snatching, harassment, and eve-teasing.
