Stone crusher unit staff hurt in Maoist firing in Koraput, 1 militia member held

Jeypore: Unleashing fresh terror in the State, Maoists left a stone crusher staff injured in Nandapur block of Koraput district last night.

As per the report, an armed militia of CPI (Maoist) group barged into the crusher located in Silapandi area and threatened the Site Incharge Prasad Rao and workers to stop work.

After the crusher unit staff called up police and a police team reached the spot a gun battle erupted between the two sides during which Prasad was struck with a bullet fired by the Red rebels.

One Maoist was nabbed during the crossfire and was taken into custody. He sustained injuries in police retaliation.

Police also seized to rifles used by the Maoists from the spot.

The injured Site Incharge and the Maoist have been admitted to Koraput Medical for treatment.
