Puri: The Justice BP Das Commission of Inquiry for reforms in Puri Srimandir on Thursday served a notice to the Superintendent ASI (Bhubaneswar) over sticking posters on the north gate of Srimandir by the servitors.

According to reports, the Reforms Commission has asked the Superintendent ASI to submit a report within two weeks on why an FIR was not filed after posters were put up on the premises of the 12th century old shrine. It also said that sticking posters on the temple wall is a punishable offence as per Section 30 of Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.

Notably, a group of servitors on December 22 put up posters near the north gate of Shree Jagannath temple opposing the feature phone plan as decided by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

In a bid to check taking photographs of Srimandir interiors, the SJTA had recently banned the use of smart phones and camera phones inside the temple with an effect from January 1, 2018. However, it had allowed the servitors to carry recognised feature phones or non-camera phones inside the temple.
