STF seizes leopard skin in Kandhamal, one person arrested

Kandhamal: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha crime branch have seized leopard skin near Siptigida village under Baliguda wildlife range in Kandhamal and have apprehended one person in this connection.

The arrested person has been identified as Bidyadhar Nayak, a resident of Hatpada sahi of Baliguda in Kandhamal.

On basis of reliable information, STF team along Baliguda forest officials conducted a raid about a deal of sale of leopard skin by the wild life criminals.

During the search, one leopard skin and other incriminating materials were seized and arrested one person.

The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of the possession of Leopard skin for which he has been detained and handed over to the forest officials for necessary legal action at their end.

Later, the STF have started an investigation into the matter.

During last one year, Special drive against the wildlife poachers/criminals have been launched, the STF have seized 16 leopard skins, 9 elephant tusks, 2 deer skin, 4 live pangolin, and 15 kg pangolin scales and have arrested 33 wildlife criminals.
