Puri: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha police arrested 5 smugglers and seized 250 gms of brown sugar from them following a raid near Baliapanda PS area in Puri on Wednesday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Dhirendra Sahu, alias Tutu (40), Subrat Khuntia alias Babul (23), Madhab Mandal alias Sana (28), Aditya Narayan Swain alias Adi (30), Suraj Parida alias Gudu (21).
Acting on a tip-off, the Superintendent of Police Puri formed one STF led by Additional SP Mihir Panda along with others and have launched a special drive against drug trafficking. They conducted a raid near bye pass road and apprehended 252 gms of brown sugar, one motor-cycle, one car and some cash from their possession.
They have also seized 11 mobile phones, cash of Rs 5000, two atm/debit cards from them.
