Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of the state Crime Branch arrested one more associate of gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito on Tuesday night.
The accused was identified as Sheikh Asadul Kadir alias Machu.
According to sources, Machu was in-charge of fixing Tito’s tenders and collecting extortion for him.
Till date, the Commissionerate Police has arrested eight associates of Tito.
The STF also seized Toyota Fortuner sigma car worth Rs 32 lakh which is in the name of Syed Sadam Ali, cousin of gangster Tito.
Meanwhile, the court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) in Cuttack has allowed the Commissionerate Police to include Tito’s name as a party in 2016 extortion and tender fixing case in Chauliaganj.
The investigating agency has also launched a probe against Tito for allegedly grabbing government land.
Earlier on Tuesday, a six-member team of STF raided several government offices including Kendrapara Municipality, Derabish tehsil office, Mahakalapada tehsil office in connection with the alleged links of some government officials with Tito.
