STF arrests 2 youths including a SBI staff for smuggling ganja in Odisha

Angul: The Special Task Force (STF) team, Bhubaneswar arrested two youths including a State Bank of India (SBI) staff for illegally smuggling ganja near Banka Palasa village under Kishore Nagar police limits in Angul.

The SBI staff has been identified as Sushanta Kumar Sahoo son of Krushna Chandra Sahoo of the village working as Clerk cum Cashier in SBI, Kishore Nagar Branch while the other accused is Jugal Sahoo(32) son of Lokanath Sahoo of Sanjamura village.

Based on a reliable piece of information on illegal transportation/possession of Narcotic Drugs, STF team conducted a raid near Banka Palasa village and arrested the two youths.

During the search, ganja weighing 165 kg, one SBML Gun, one Mahindra XUV 300 Car, one Pulsar M/c, and other incriminating materials were recovered & seized from their possession.

The accused persons could not produce any document or authority for possession of ganja, for which they have been arrested and will be forwarded to the court.

In this connection a case has been registered under sections 20(b)(ii)(c)/29 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.

Since 2020, STF in the special drive against narcotic drugs has seized more than 50 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin and more than 91 quintals of Ganja /Marijuana and arrested more than 130 drug dealers/peddlers.
