Kendrapara: Police today arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was recovered from Luna river in the district on August 18.
Police said that the stepson of the woman identified as Sasmita Biswal was the mastermind in the murder which was hatched to get insurance money.
The accused have been identified as Santosh Biswal, the stepson of Sasmita, his wife Debasmita and Dukhishyam Nayak.
Police said that Sasmita had a second marriage married Alekh Biswal of Chanaka village some years ago.
“After the death of her husband, Sasmita was the nominee of Alekh’s properties and the insurance claim. Her stepson, however, has been trying to acquire the property for which he hatched the plot to eliminate her. The accused first killed her and later dumped the body in the river. We are also trying to nab another accused involved in the crime,’ said a police official.
