Keonjhar: In a sad incident, a man allegedly beat her step daughter to death in this district of Odisha. Following the incident, he also attempted suicide but rescued by his wife. The incident took place in Raghuala Sahi under Champua Police limits in Keonjhar district. He has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
The accused has been identified as Kailash Sitari.
As per reports, Sarat Oram of Jgannathpur area died a few years ago. After the death, his wife Shantilata was living along with their son and daughter.
After a few days, one Kailash of Raghual Sahi kept relationship with Shantilata and later they lived as wife and husband. Kailash accepted her as the second wife as his first wife had died earlier.
On Tuesday night, Kailash beat daughter of Shantilata, his step daughter, with a wooden shaft after he got angry as the girl was talking to someone on his phone and he suspected that she was talking to a boy. Accordingly, the girl died.
After death of the minor girl Kailash attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself with a rope inside the house. However, his wife Shantilata cut the rope for which he got saved.
After getting information Police reached the spot and sent Kailash to be admitted at Champua hospital for treatment. Further investigation of the case is underway.
