Balangir: In a shocking incident, a step father has allegedly attempted to sexually abuse his step-daughter in Puintala police station area in Balangir district. The alleged accused step-father has been identified as Bhagwat Behera of Mahadevpali village.
Reportedly, Bhagwat was married to a divorced woman. She lived with her 13-year-old daughter who is born to her ex-husband.
Earlier on Tuesday, Bhagwat’s step-daughter went to the forest with her step-father to fetch fire wood. Taking advantage of the situation as nobody was present in the area, Bhagwat attempted sexually advances towards her.
Thereafter, the locals of Kalijharan villager came running to the spot after listening to the minor girl’s shout for help and rescued her.
The locals then nabbed Bhagwat and handed over them to Puintala police station. The police has lodged a complaint against Bhagwat and arrested him.
It is learnt that Bhagwat will be forwarded to court today after his medical examination. Severe punishment has been demanded against Bhagwat.
