State Road Projects make Significant Progress

Review MeetingBhubaneswar: In a major development in the area of infrastructure development in the state, the construction of roads under the State Road Projects has made significant progress during last one year.

It came into light during the State Level Empowered Committee Meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here at the secretariat conference hall on Friday.

Presenting the updates about the project, Works Secretary Nalinikanta Pradhan said that within last one year the State High Way No-16 stretching over 86 kms from Bhwanipatna to Khariar has been completed and opened to traffic with investment of around Rs.115 cr.

“Similarly, 4 numbers of bridges over river Tel have been completed and opened to traffic with total expenditure of Rs.32 cr. Forty one km road from Berhampur to Taptapani costing around Rs 95 cr has also been completed and opened to traffic”, Pradhan said.

Prdhan also appraised that the construction of Biju Expressway stretching over 656 kms from Rourkela to Chandili, with an estimated cost of Rs.3200 cr, has been expedited. The road will connect Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh with KBK’s Koraput, Nabrangpur, Kalahani and Nuapada.

The Chief Secretary directed Works department to ensure the quality of construction through close monitoring, and complete Biju Express Way project by June, 2019.
