SRC Asks To Complete Assessment Of Damages To Private Properties By May 22

Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Bishnupada Sethi has asked the district collectors of 14 cyclone affected districts to conduct an assessment of damage to private properties including loss of boats, damage of fish ponds and loss to artisans in handloom and handicraft.

Sethi has also asked the concerned district collectors to complete the assessment by May 22. Sethi has asked the collectors to constitute squads with adequate members of various departments including Revenue and Disaster Management, Agriculture, Fisheries and Veterinary.

“The reports must include photographic evidence of the concerned beneficiaries along with the damaged houses at the background,” said an official.

Cyclone Fani has caused large scale damage to Raghurajpur in Puri district which is considered as the home of Odisha’s famous Pattachitra art. The village is home to around 700 artisans of 140 families who are finding it difficult to meet their daily needs.
