Spurious tobacco manufacturing unit busted in Odisha’s Jajpur, 2 held

Jajpur: Police on Monday busted a spurious tobacco (Gundi) manufacturing unit at Panikoili in Odisha’s Jajpur district and seized huge quantity of tobacco and other raw materials and manufacturing machines from the spot.

Police arrested two persons in this connection. They have been identified as Pitabasa Sahu and his son Subashis Sahu of Badabiruan village under Panikoli Police limits in the district.

The seizure materials include 250 nos of gunny bags of dhania, 200 nos of gunny bags of tobaco, 1000 nos of gunny bags of dokta leaf, 700 nos of gunny bags of gundi, 33 nos of gunny bags of chunaa (Lime), 40 nos of tin of mustard oil, 35 nos of gunny bags of anseed, three cutter machines, six weight measurement machines, three tobaco packing machines, and five nos of chemical liquid jar among others, police said.

A case has been registered under section of 419/420/272/273/269/277/34 IPC/3 EPD Act and 103/104 trademark Act/20COPT Act at Panikoli Police station. Further investigation is underway, police added.
