SpiceJet to begin flight operation at Jharsuguda Airport from March 31

Jharsuguda: Flight services at the newly-built Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport here in Odisha will resume from March 31 this year, after nearly three months’ suspension of its operation.

Speaking to media persons Jharsuguda airport director SK Chouhan on Saturday said that SpiceJet Airlines will begin operations from the airport starting from March 31 this year.

The private-run-airlines will launch its flight operations from the VVS Airport to three major routes- New Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad, he added.

An eight-member safety audit team of SpiceJet today inspected the facilities and other arrangements at the airport here.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the airport in September 22 last year under the ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik’ (UDAN) scheme.

However, flight operations stopped at the airport after around 15 days as the Union Civil Aviation Ministry had cancelled the license of Air Odisha, which was operating flight from Jharsuguda airport to Raipur, on charges of irregularities.
