Rourkela: A woman and her two school going kids sustained critical injuries after a speeding passenger bus hit them at Kumbharapada near Bandhamunda Square in the Steel City on Friday.
The injured have been identified as Puja Kumari and her sons Aryan (7) and Anurag (5).
As per the eyewitnesses, the victim woman was waiting for a school bus to board her children when the mishap took place. A passenger bus namely ‘Rajhans’, which was coming from Bisra lost its track and ended up hitting they trio in which they sustained critical injury.
The injured were rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) immediately and were later shifted to ICU due to critical conditions.
Angry locals attacked and ransacked the bus following the accident and staged a road blockade on the spot demanding arrest of the driver.
Police had reached the spot and was trying to pacify the mob to remove the blockade till this report was being filed.
Efforts are on to trace the absconding driver of the bus, said police.
