Special Train with 1140 Odia Migrants on its way from Kerala to Odisha

Bhubaneswar:  A special train carrying 1140 Odia migrant labourers has started its journey from Kerala to Odisha yesterday evening.

The train reportedly departed from Aluva railway station in Ernakulam district of Kerala and is on its way to Odisha’s capital city of Bhubaneswar.

Sources said that among the 1140 migrants, 350 belong to Kandhamal district . Upon their arrival, the Kerala returnees will be placed under a quarantine period of 14 days. The Odisha State government has already arranged quarantine centres for them.

The Kerala police provided packed food to the Odia passengers before the departure of the train.

Kerala DGP Loknath Behera, meanwhile, while speaking to Kalinga TV, said that one more train carrying  the guest workers from Odisha will start from Kerala today.

“One train carrying nearly 1200 passengers left for Bhubaneswar from Cochin at 10 Pm yesterday. Another train will leave Kerala today with another 1200 guest workers.” he said.
