SP denies involvement of Jawans in Kunduli gang rape

Kunduli gang rapeKoraput : The Superintendent of Police, Koraput, Kanwar Vishal Singh on Saturday denied all allegations of involvement of SOG jawans in the Kunduli gang rape case saying there was no evidence so far regarding any movement of SOG jawans in the area when the incident occurred.

Addressing a press conference here, the SP said, “So far, the probe has not established any movement of security forces in the area during the incident. However our investigation is still going on and we have kept all angles open in our probe.”

“We are now working on some clues in this case under the close supervision of senior officials and I am hopeful to get the truth as soon as possible,” he added.

The SP’s statement came a day after BJD Dalit Cell President Bishnu Das claimed that there was certainly an involvement of SOG jawans in the Kunduli gang rape as per the spot inquiry conducted by a team of Dalit cell of ruling party.

A class-IX student of Sorisapadar village under Pottangi police limits in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel while she was returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) on October 10 that created a huge public outcry in the state.
