South monsoon rainfall intensity in Odisha to increase in next 4-5 days

Bhubaneswar: The south monsoon rainfall intensity in Odisha likely to increase in the next 4-5 days, informed the Bhubaneswar-based regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.

Meanwhile, the weatherman has issued a yellow warning in for heavy rainfall for some districts of the State for the next 24 hours. The heavy rainfall warning has been issued to 11 districts like Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh.

Likewise, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Boudh and Kandhamal between 8.30 AM of July 1 and 8.30 AM of July 2.

As per the data of the regional centre of the IMD, the State has received 133.3 mm rainfall from June 1 to June 30, which is 40 per cent less than the normal rainfall. Districts like Puri, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Sundergarh have witnessed less rainfall during this period of time.
