Soumendra Patnaik takes over as Utkal University VC

Bhubaneswar: Soumendra Mohan Patnaik assumed the office of Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Utkal University here on Monday.

Patnaik, who was appointed as the new VC of the reputed institute of the state on July 17, was warmly welcomed by teachers and employees of the University.

Speaking exclusively to Kalinga TV, Patnaik said, “I have come here with some of my own ideas.  I need the support of the staff to implement them. Whatever I will do for the University I will do it only after discussing with the faculty members, students and employees of the institute and will work hard to take the university to the world.”

Patnaik was the Professor of Anthropology in Delhi University before taking over from Professor Ashok Das as the VC of the University.

Patnaik also held the President’s post of Indian Anthropological Association and was teaching Social Anthropology for the last 24 years.
