Sonepur newborn theft case busted, father and grandmother arrested

Sonepur: Police have busted the newborn child theft case of Sonepur. Father and grandmother of the newborn child have been arrested in this connection. The child had been rescued from a nearby forest.

It is to be noted that a newborn baby girl had gone missing from the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Sonepur of Odisha on November 20.

Reportedly, one Santoshini gave birth to the newborn baby girl on the veranda of gynaecology department of the DHH as no bed was available in the ward. She gave birth to the baby girl at 9.15 am on Friday.

On Saturday when Santoshini went to the washroom, her mother-in-law held the new-born baby. Thereafter, one unidentified woman came to her and asked her to hold the baby for a moment and later fled away from the spot.

A complaint had been lodged in this connection and Police were probing the case.
