Sonepur hottest place in Odisha, Kalabaisakhi alert in 8 districts: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar informed that mercury surged above 40 degree Celsius mark at 15 places in the State today.

According to the weather department, the highest maximum day temperature of today in the State was recorded at Sonepur as the mercury rose to 43.5 degree Celsius.

Bolangir recorded the maximum temperature of 43, followed by Angul at 42.7 degree celsius, Jharsuguda at 42.6 and Boudh and Sundargarh at 42.5 degree celsius respectively.

As many as 8 districts of Odisha have been warned against the Kalabaisakhi (Nor’westers) as predicted by the meteorological department.

The maximum temperature is unlikely to change in the next 5 days. In most places of Odisha, the temperature will remain above 40 degree celsius.
