Bhubaneswar: A 26 year old was killed and his father was injured after being shot at in Sarkantara area under Khandagiri police limits this evening.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Jena (26) while his father Abhimanyu Jena is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS.
Though the exact motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained family members of the victims alleged that both of them were targeted after they opposed peddling of broawn sugar in the area by a group of peddlers.
“A peddler has threatened them of dire consequences last night. A group of miscreants reached the house today and fired multiple rounds. Both of them were rushed to the AIIMS where Anil succumbed to his injuries,” alleged a family member.
Khandagiri police have reached the spot and have started an investigation.
