Balasore: Acting on a tip-off,Khantapada Police seized large quantity of snails and seashells from two private buses near Shergarh toll gate on NH-16 in Odisha’s Balasore district late last night.
As many as five persons were detained in this connection.
Police also seized the two private-run buses bearing the registration numbers OD-01X-1575 and OR-01 S-8771, in which the snails and seashells were being smuggled to Kolkata.
Khantapada police registered a case and started an investigation into the matter. The snails and seashells were illegally transported from Dhamra to Kolkata, police said.
