Puri: Police have arrested six persons including the mastermind of the triple murder at Patnaikiya Chhak on Puri-Bhubaneswar main road in Pipili on Sunday.
Police today arrested the accused identified as Bhikari Behera, Harihar Behera, Manua Behera, Sahadeb Behera, Subala Behera and Sankar Behera.
Police said that prolonged land dispute was the motive behind the triple murder. “We have also seized the weapons used in the murder. We are also trying to nab around seven other accused involved in the crime,’ said a police official.
The deceased identified as Panchu Behera, Purnachandra Behera and Krushnachandra Behera succumbed to their injuries on the spot after being assaulted with sharp-edged weapons.
Tension had prevailed at Pattnaikiya Chhak on Sunday after the incident. An irate mob had later ransacked few shops and had set few vehicles on fire as a mark of protest.
“The accused were identified on the basis of CCTV footage. They are being further interrogate and all of them will be produced before the court on Wednesday,” added the police official.
