Similipal National Park In Odisha Closed Due To Heavy Rain

Mayurbhanj: The Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha remained closed for tourists today as light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm have hit some places of north Odisha and a few regions of south coastal districts were under the influence of western disturbance.

Reportedly, several places in the Mayurbhanj district received rainfall this morning. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure, said Similipal authorities.

The weather department has issued a Yellow Warning thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sanibalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Puri in the next 24 hours till Saturday morning.

However, the tourists will be allowed for an overnight stay, informed Deputy Director of Similipal Sai Kiran D.N.

The Similipal National Park, located in northern Odisha, is spread over 2750 sq-km, famous for its flawless beauty due to its variety of plants and animals, which attracts tourists.
