Sick elephant dies under treatment in Jharsuguda of Odisha

Jharsuguda: An ailing wild elephant which was being treated by the forest department at Sunamal village under Kolabira Forest Range for last two days died on Tuesday.

The jumbo had been tranquilized and caught from the Uchkabahal forested area last Friday after some locals spotted it in a sick state. While the veterinary doctors started its treatment by Saturday, it did not show any sign of improvement and died at around 5 AM in the morning today.

While a group of veterinarians from Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar had rushed to the spot and engaged on the treatment of the pachyderm, their local counterparts were also assisting them in it.
