Paralakhemundi: In a shocking incident, two siblings, brother and sister, met watery grave in front of their mother in a river near Sub-station Sahi in Mohana of Gajapati district on Thursday.
The deceased duo has been identified as Kishor Sualsingh’s children Bishnu Sualsingh (4) and Soumya Sualsingh (6) of Katama village.
As per the mother of the deceased children duo, she was taking bath in Kanteikoli river this morning when the mishap occurred. The children duo, who had been left near the banks of the river to play, suddenly slipped into the water and swept away, she informed.
While the woman tried to save her children by jumping into the water her efforts went in vein.
Some bystanders who reached the spot by hearing the screaming of the woman, fished out the minor duo from the water and rushed to Mohana CHC. However, the doctors declared them brought dead.
A pal of gloom has descended on the village of the victims following the incident.
