Shri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital in Puri to be inaugurated today

Puri: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the Shri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital, Puri today.

The district administration and police have made security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the inaugural program and the peaceful visit of the Chief Minister.

Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Kanwar Vishal Singh visited the medical college and reviewed the security arrangements on Sunday for Chief Minister’s visit.

As per the schedule, CM Naveen Patnaik will land on the helipad prepared inside the campus of Shri Jagannath Medical College at 5 PM today. Following this, he will attend the inaugural program as chief guest and inaugurate the college.

It is to be noted that the admission process of the first batch (100) for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students has been completed. The hostel, canteen, lab, classrooms and the administrative block have all been set for the new batch.

The government has reportedly sanctioned Rs 500 crore for the construction of the medical college.

It is pertinent to mention that the Odisha government is taking all necessary steps to start functioning the proposed medical college and hospital at Sundargarh from this academic session. The medical college is being set up with the support of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) which will function with 100 MBBS seats while the hospital will have 500 beds.
