Shocking! Woman Alive While Husband, Father-in-law In Jail For Her Murder In Odisha

Baripada: In a shocking incident a youth and his father have been languishing in jail for the past three months in Odisha’s  Mayurbhanj district on charges of killing a woman who was found to be alive.

As per reports, the woman identified as Rayamani Bankira went on missing from her in-law’s house on April 22. The husband of the woman Sanjay Naik subsequently lodged a missing complaint with Badampahad police station while the uncle of the woman also lodged a missing complaint at the same police station.

Police later found a half-burnt body of a woman from a forest on April 27. Police suspect the body was of the missing woman and later arrested his husband Sanjay and father in law Mangal Naik on charges of murder.

During the course of investigation, police decided to conduct a DNA test of the body and subsequently reached the house of the woman in Keonjhar district on July 17. The neighbours of the woman told the police that she has moved to Cuttack with her mother.

Police, however, was shocked to find the woman alive in Cuttack. The incident has raised questions on the investigation of the police. The uncle of the woman too claimed that they had never identified the half-burnt body.

“We tried to convince the police that my son and husband were innocent. But the police sent them to jail without proper investigation. They must be released immediately and authorities must compensate for their fault,” demanded Pana Naik, wife of Mangal.
