Shocking! Class 10 student commits suicide as parents asked her to attend physical classes in Odisha

Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, a female school student allegedly committed suicide by consuming some pesticide at Bhimarangiri village in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

While speaking to the reporters, the father of the deceased girl said that along with his wife, he advised their daughter to go to the school to join the offline classes after schools were reopened.

The couple rebuked the girl yesterday after she strongly denied going to the school. Unable to bear the scolding from her parents, the class ten student consumed some pesticide, which was kept in the house for agricultural purposes.

Soon, she was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Malkangiri for treatment. Unfortunately, she passed away this morning while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

“We tried our best to save the girl after she was admitted at the hospital in a critical condition. She had consumed some pesticide,” informed Priyabati Behera, Doctor.

It is to be noted here that schools and colleges, after two years of closure due to the covid pandemic, reopened in Odisha from February 7 for the physical classes of standard 8 to above. Likewise, the physical mode of teaching of KG to class 7 will resume from February 28. However, students can attend classes online, if they want to.
