Mayurbhanj: Today is the Savitri Brata day. This day is being observed in our country for ages. It is believed that Devi Savitri showed such devotion and worship that Yamraj, the death God, was forced to return her husband Satyaban’s life back. This is the reason why Savitri Brata day is considered an auspicious day for every married Hindu woman.
On the day of Savitri Brata, women keep fast and offer prayers for the long life of their husbands. However, a shocking incident has taken place in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today.
One Bharat Deuri reportedly beat his wife Kali Deuir to death at Asura village in Jashipur Tehsil of the district. He killed Kali for some unknown reason and absconded.
On being informed, a team of cops from Jashipur Police Station rushed to the village and started an investigation into the crime. A scientific team is also likely to join the police in probing the case.
